This is a simple application designed to facilitate the moving of files to and from the desktop. "Desktop Sets" can be created which define which files appear where on the desktop.
Following is a brief descritption of the application's menus and settings.
New Desktop Set – This creates a new desktop file containing the files and their positions as they appear on the desktop.
Load Desktop Set – This loads a desktop file from disk.
Hide All Items – This removes all files from the desktop (except DesktopSwitch ones)
Preferences – Configure Hiding/Moving options –
Put Away Files – this attempts to mimic the finder's "Put Away" command. There are many circumstances where files cannot be put away (created on desktop, put away dir. missing, same-named file in put away dir, etc) and these cases are handled by the bottom half of the checkbox (see below).
Make Files Invisible – To make files disappear, make them invisible. May not be the best choice, since if you have no desktop set containing some of the files made invisible, the only way to make them visible is with ResEdit/similar utility.
Hints/Tips
1. The application will not move/hide DesktopSwitch files if they are on the desktop.
2. Keep the application on the desktop – the finder only redraws the desktop when it believes an icon has moved/changed, so when the app closes, the desktop redraws.
